Carlsberg Centre Stage National Finals at
The Emporioum KL
Uglymen were very fortunate to get 2nd in this very high-level competition.
The atmosphere in the Emporium was exploding, with fans, supporters and
neutral public swinging and screaming out. Below are some notable happennings
that night:

SMV Brandon
Ng G-Man
Mohd
Sabri

Trimix Uglymen
- SMV were champion, and their female supporters threw panties and bras
onto the stage, the vocalist hung
a black panties on the microphone stand.
- Sherman Tan and Sabri gave an UNBELIEVABLE performance of the highest
quality of entertainment to
the crowd, you would have laugh your lungs out if you were
there.
- G-Man performance was shocking to us, or to me at least, as I have never
seen before such gracious style
of guitar-playing
- Leonard Tan was the toss of the night, this guy really funny, I must see
him tell stories again...
- The stage crew were very professional and helpful through out the contest.
- Trimix were the only females contestant, and killed rows of films from
the photographers.
- From the info I have, Jelly Jem (from Johor) and Uglymen were the only
2 non - music professionals in the
Finals.
- The crowd were unbelievable, very involved and supportive, wish we could
get the same respond in Kedah
or Penang.
- The following solo-acts review were written by Suan as below:
1. Vishnu Sakhti
a huge guy with a warm heart whose voice easily melts the hearts of those
chicks out there. came out real cool with a touch of down to earth personality
that rivals any model citizen. he did a few songs and made the crowd screamed
in delight. an entertainer who would rather let his voice do the singing.
steady and strong voice with nice expression. one of the crowd favourites.
2. Sherman Tan
another huge guy with locks that rocks. never underestimate the body mass
and never judge a book by it's cover. as for sherman, NEVER ever thinks
that he can't rock. HE CAN ROCK. very strong voice. sherman is the last
person whom you think has stage fright. he took the stage as if he was taking
a rest. his confidence almost capture the audience in awe, well, at least
to me. his chosen songs were suited very well with his vocal ability and
he has tremendous feel towards every song that he delivered that nite. a
BIG talent indeed.
3. John Sam
a nice dude from kuantan. an evergreen guy who played nice soothing music.
get the crowd on their feet and has a nice voice perhaps too nice to be
aggresive. did some reggae stuff and has nice outfit too. has a nice tonality
that fits well with the person.
4. Mohd Sabri
what can i say? he's the MAN! funny as a susu cap kambing. u think he's
an old chap? well, he can sing like a young chap with a heart of gold and
a humour that will make an occasion so special u'll think everyday is payday.
very funny man with original song to offer called "jangan mengata orang".
huge talent with playing on the guitar and keyboard. an entertaining person
with a very nice natural intro. as he speaks, he sings and adlib until the
finale you will burst into laughter. build the momentum very well. an A+
entertainment.
5. G - Man
an unusual talent. this guy CAN play the guitar. he played an epiphone double
neck guitar for his performance. left hand play the rhythm parts on one
neck, right hand tapping the melody on another neck and with singing too.
he even demonstrated that u can play bach and mozart on the guitar. made
me wanna sell my guitar. any buyer here? his best impression was playing
a jazz song with two hands and singing at the same time. left playing the
rhythms and right playing the melody. where did u get this guy from? then
he played a self composed rock tune with a name called "homegrown rock
n roll" using an electric guitar. the finale solo, he pulled the guitar
away and strung it upside down so that he can play it left handed. dang!
6. Brandon Ng
a cross of neil diamond and elvis presley. this guy played the guitar with
a notebook as the backing muscians. gives any 60's rocker a run of their
money. a true talent with nice grin. nice clothes too. gave a rendition
of neil diamond and elvis presley songs that u thought they were on stage.
